Welcome to the Little Feet Soap Company blog! Little Feet Soap Company began as a family endeavor in 2001, an effort to create our own personal care products, reduce our household expenditures and use earth-friendly, non –toxic cleaners and care- products in our home. We found we greatly enjoyed the soap-making process and continued supplying our family and friends with our finished product until our company was formed in 2007. Our soap is made in our home and we use every effort to manufacture and distribute our product with the environment in mind. Our motto is: Reduce your footprint, Restore the earth, renew yourself - which is a gentle reminder to ourselves and our community to make environmentally conscious choices in our daily lives. We hope you enjoy our handcrafted, all-natural, vegetable-based soaps.
Our Process
We use the cold-process method for making soap. This basically means that aside from heating up the fats in order to liquefy them we do not heat the soap mixture otherwise. Once the fats are liquefied and they reach the same temperature as the lye-water solution we pour the lye-water mixture into them and stir the two until they have reached a trace (the mixture has thickened and the chemical reaction has occurred; also known as saponification. After this we add any herbs for coloring and the essential oils and pour the soap into the molds. We let the soap cure after removing it from the molds for approximately 4-6 weeks. We then hand cut the soap into a 4-4.5 ounce bar.
